Jean Perrien Award for Best Paper in Financial Services

General Guidelines

Purpose

The purpose of the Jean Perrien Award for Best Paper in Financial Services is to encourage high quality research in the financial services sector. For a period of five years, starting in 2011, ASAC will offer $500 for the paper being presented at the annual conference that wins this award.

Eligibility & Submission Process

Any papers that deal with the financial services sector and that are presented at the current year’s ASAC conference are eligible for the award. For example, these could be theoretical or empirical papers addressing the management of human resources in the financial services sector, marketing financial services, logistical management on the financial services sector, etc. The papers are to be identified and forwarded to the V.P. Awards (ASAC) by divisional executive members. Authors of papers do not apply for the award directly.

Evalutaion Process & Criteria

Papers submitted to the V.P. Awards for the Jean Perrien Award for Best Paper in Financial Services will be reviewed and adjudicated by the ASAC Award Committee established for the purpose.

Applications will be assessed on the following criteria:

  • the relevance of the paper to the financial services sector;
  • the quality and originality of the paper;
  • the potential impact of the research on management practice in the financial services sector; and
  • any special circumstances or other factor(s) deemed appropriate in a particular instance.
In all cases, the overriding factors in the evaluation of an application are the quality and originality of the research in the financial services sector, as reflected in the research proposal, and the achievements of the applicant. All decisions are final. ASAC reserves the right not to make an award in a given year if it deems that none of the submissions meet the program's objectives or for any other reason at the discretion of the ASAC Executive. The ASAC Executive will evaluate the continuance of the program on a year-to-year basis during the five-year period.
